About Bwindi Impenetrable Forest:
Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a jewel in southwestern Uganda. Its ancient rainforests, lush flora, and unique wildlife make it one of the most biologically diverse places on the planet. It is home to over half of the world’s critically endangered mountain gorillas, making it a prime destination for gorilla trekking.
About Gorillas:
The mountain gorillas in Bwindi are a subspecies of the eastern gorilla and are critically endangered. This safari provides a rare opportunity to observe them up close in their natural habitat, contributing to both conservation efforts and an unforgettable personal experience.
About the Batwa Cultural Encounter:
The Batwa people are the indigenous inhabitants of the Bwindi region. A visit to their cultural village offers insight into their traditional lifestyle, including their hunting and gathering skills, dances, and unique way of life, helping to preserve their cultural heritage.
Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Entebbe
Upon arrival at the International Airport, you will be received by a representative from Kange Safaris, who will then drive you to your hotel to check in.
If you happen to arrive early in Entebbe, there are plenty of half-day activities to choose from.
You can opt for a half-day excursion to Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary or go on a boat cruise on Lake Victoria to explore the Mabamba wetlands in search of the elusive shoebill., or visit the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre in Entebbe, which offers various visitor programs, including behind the scenes experiences with the animals.

Day 2: Drive to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest – 9 Hours’ Drive
Plan to wake up early and begin an exciting road trip to Bwindi. Take in the gorgeous views and delicious flavours of the Ugandan countryside along the way. Although it’s a long drive, it’s equally rewarding. You’ll pass through many small towns, villages, farms, and stunning views of the changing countryside. There will be several stopovers for photography, lunch, and snacks on the way.
Upon arriving in the evening, check-in at your lodge where they will be expecting you. You’ll have some time in the evening to relax from the long drive and prepare for your gorilla-tracking experience on the following day.

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi
This day is the centerpiece of your adventure. After an early breakfast, you’ll head to the park headquarters for a comprehensive briefing on gorilla trekking, which includes essential guidelines and safety procedures of Gorilla trekking.
With this knowledge, you will join a group of 8 other visitors and venture into the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, a mesmerizing realm of ancient trees and lush vegetation. The trek takes you through the steep slopes and thick vegetation of the forest and lasts between 1-6 hours depending on the location of the Gorilla group you are trekking. Once you encounter the majestic mountain gorillas, you’ll spend an awe-inspiring hour observing how they go around with their typical day, playing, grooming, eating, and resting. After the time with gorillas, you will return to the starting point and receive your gorilla tracking certificate.
You will then return to your lodge to have your well-deserved lunch and share your experiences with fellow travellers.
Depending on the duration of your Gorilla Trek, you may have enough time in the afternoon to visit the Batwa community and learn about their culture and ways of life.
You will then spend some leisure time at the lodge to relax and let the gorilla experience sink in.

Day 4: Scenic Journey and Departure. 9 Hours’ Drive
On your final day, after enjoying a delicious breakfast and checking out from your lodge, you will start your journey back to Entebbe. This drive will provide many opportunities to capture the beauty of Uganda’s landscapes and immerse yourself in the vibrant local culture. You will have lunch at a local restaurant along the way. During the trip, you will stop at the Equator crossing point in Kayabwe, where you can see the monuments that signify the geographical location of the Equator, place a foot in the Northern Hemisphere and the other in the Southern Hemisphere, and take some memorable photos. This location also has shops that offer souvenirs and local crafts. Finally, you will return to Entebbe, where your guide will assist you with airport transfers, allowing you to bid farewell to Uganda with cherished memories of your Bwindi adventure.
